recent pain in toe joint?

Question by S-Wess: recent pain in toe joint?
lately i’ve been having pain in both of my big toes. it only hurts when i move them, but at times it hurts pretty bad. sometimes it isn’t that bad though. it is in the main joint on the top and more toward the inside of my foot. it started in my right foot probably about 3-4 weeks ago and just recently like within the last week-week & a half has happened in my left foot as well. it’s hard to tell if i can move them all the way or not. so im not exactly sure if i have a full range of motion, but it’s pretty close. it doesn’t really hurt that bad to walk, but running is when it hurts. and i play football, so that’s the main reason i ask. also i take the medicine accutane which i’ve heard can cause joint pain. but i’ve been on it for 4-5 months now and it’s just now starting so i doubt that’s it.

thanks for any help you can possibly give me.
that could possibly be it, but i googled gout and it said that discolorization and numbness, and i haven’t really had either of those, but it did say pain and swelling, which i am having pain, and possibly some swelling, not really sure, thanks though

could be gout, crystaline stuff in your joints. you’d have to watch your diet and eat cherrys – I get it a little now and then I think that’s what it is

What kind of doctor should my boyfriend see for joint pain?

Question by Laura: What kind of doctor should my boyfriend see for joint pain?
Please only answer if you have some sort of medical knowledge…

Ok so my boyfriend has really horrible joint pain, he has been having this for sometime since we’ve been together (two yrs), sometimes it is worse than others, his knees pops out of joint, his elbows, etc, his fingers hurt sometimes, he can pop all of his fingers a lot, he can pop every finger in every joint..Lately his arm has been hurting him horribly, he has to take a bath and let it soak in warm water to get the pain to go away, I’m trying to make him an appointment he has medicare but I do not know what kind of doctor he should see, internal medicine, family medicine or general practice.

he says this pain got worse over the yrs, after the army which was 6 yrs ago.

Thanks
Laura

He needs an orthopedist…they deal in the skeleton, joints, ligaments, etc.

But you will probably need to go through his primary care physician first and then get referred to one. That’s how my insurance worked. They are specialists, so ordinarily you can’t just go on your own.

Joint Pain, need advise?

Question by Patricia M: Joint Pain, need advise?
Hi, my name is Patricia im 26yrs old. Ca. 4 yrs ago I was tested for Hodgkins Disease due to rapid weight loss, fatigue, swollen lymphnodes in my neck area and changes in my white blood cell count. I was cleared for Hodgkins but still nobody knew why I was feeling so sick or where the blood changes came from. I had to take antibiotics and antiviral drugs to see if it was a virus/infection but nothing helped. I was advised to get regular blood tests done and I have to admit I didnt have any blood tests taken in over 2yrs. Anyways, lately I wake up at night for what seems to be joint pain in my wrist and ankles. But the pain keeps moving up my shin and elbows. I am quite tired again, could sleep all day long. Sometimes I have a little rash on my arms and legs and dont know why. I took some anti-inflammatory medicine but that doesnt ease the pain. I am not sure what it could be. I really dont like going to the doc since they never know whats wrong with me. Any advise?!

Q&A: how to relieve joint pain in my knee?

Question by Steve G: how to relieve joint pain in my knee?
i am 14, i have talked to my doctor about this so don’t tell me to go to the doctor, i have been having joint pains for about 2 weeks now in my knee and i am not getting medicine for it.

i would like to know some techniques that you might know because every time i run it feels as though one bone is touching the other, i have been drinking a lot of milk and eating a lot of cheese because calcium helps bones grow

thank you for your help

Best answer:

Answer by Steve M
If it is severe, do more than talk to the doctor. If your school has a nutritionist, you need to check with her on the amount of calcium intake you need. It could be a growing things. How much running do you do? Do you warm up first? When does it hurt? Alternating hot and cold packs might help. One thing about doctors, if you don’t get the answer you want- Ask another doctor. It could be a number of things at your age. Use the internet as a source of information for when you do speak to the doctor; not a substitution. Also talk to your parents about family history. People may treat you like a kid but you are old enough to speak for yourself.

Has anyone heard of a new pain relief product called Alcis?

Question by Sewnmemaw60: Has anyone heard of a new pain relief product called Alcis?
It’s a topical medicine for aches and pains of things like arthritis, back pain, joint pain, etc.Suppose to go right to the source of the pain thru the skin when you rub it in(like Bengay). But suppose to be better.
I saw the ad this morning on tv,just wondering if anyone has tried it?
Sounds too good to be true as with most infomercials, what do you think?

it’s expensive too,I went to the website $ 99.00 but offering a promotional offer.. I can’t afford this unless they have Medicare coverage.

What do you think?

Best answer:

Answer by George P. N
it is very expensive and i think there are cheaper ways. It depends where your pain is. but the old fashioned paracetamol with codeïne is the cheapest

what is the best supplement, natural medicine for joints and knee pain?

Question by Sara: what is the best supplement, natural medicine for joints and knee pain?

Best answer:

Answer by oldtimekid2
There are actually several natural supplements that help joint health.
The most popular are Microlactin, Tart Cherries, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, Danish Rose Hips, and Bromelain. Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM are commonly in combinations together because they work for similar aspects of joint health (and most recommend 1500 mg of Glucosamine, 1200 of Chondroitin, and various levels of MSM spread throughout the day) so that would probably be a good place to start. The down side is that those take the longest to work because they are the main nutrients that your body uses to create new cartilage, but because of that, they work the best in the long run.

The only thing to really watch out for is allergies. Glucosamine is typically from Shellfish and Microlactin is from milk. As long as you’re not allergic to those, you should have no problem and you could safely take any number of those together. Good luck and I hope I helped!

TMJ — I take Aleve and a Valerian Root based muscle relaxer from the health food store. Best results came from Chiropractic adjustments though. Find one that specializes or has training in that. It helped me TREMENDOUSLY!

Sounds like you may just have a budging disc in your lower back that is aggravating your sciatic nerve. Although the pain is in your leg the sciatic nerve runs from the middle of you back ,down your leg, across your shin to your big toe.
Most time Sciatic pain is noticed most in the hip and legs.
When you take the “goodies” it is relieving the swelling of the disc. I recommend resting as much as possible, keep taking the anti inflammatories and maybe even icing you lower back.

Good Luck, hope it helps
