anyone have ideas??

Question by Betty O.: anyone have ideas??
I was in an auto-pedestrian accident in Sept 2005, i have 2 screws that go in my left wing pelvis bone and into my SI joint, (tailbone area)..anyways ive been off pain medicine since about summer 2006. I have had a couple of those cortizone injections in that joint….is there any other relief? i dont want to keep getting those injections..they hurt and only last me a few weeks..ive tried physical therapy since 2005..should i ask for pain meds again?? i also tried anti-inflamatory meds and they didnt seem to give me much relief. anyone been through a situation like this?? i also had a open fracture on my ankle (which still hurts occasionally), and a torn meniscus in my left knee..which also bothers me. all my pain and discomfort are on my left joints. (back, knee, ankle). does anyone have some ideas of what i could do?

Feldene, water pill for feet swelling off and on. I can’t recall the other meds now but I was told I would have to be on the pain meds the rest of my life. What do you say to this ?

Go to a pain clinic. They specialize in these problems. You are taking too much medicine and your tolerance to it is building up so that you will need more and more.

Hip Popping Pain any idea as to what it is?

Question by Deeg: Hip Popping Pain any idea as to what it is?
Ok so i went to the doctors and got this sports medicine doctor. He told me I had bursitis of the bursa and a snapping tendon. So he wrote me a script for physical therapy without an MRI. Today was my third visit to physical therapy and we did this one move and all of the sudden I got these jolts from my lower back to my knee. Then my hip popped and the physical therapist was shocked. He then called over the supervisor who determined it to be a joint problem. She said they couldn’t fix it and physical therapy might make it worse. She said the doctor is wrong and I need to go back as soon as possible. I have an apportionment tomorrow but I’m afraid he’d going to say the same thing. The therapist was also shocked he did not request an MRI. I would like to see an orthopedic surgeon/doctor not a sports medicine one. Any idea as to what this pain is. I put ice on it, I rest but it’s just painful and ever since I started physical therapy it got worse?? any ideas??
OMG someone finally understands. I use to do yoga, run etc. Well the physical therapist emailed him and hopefully he will give me an MRI because physical therapy has escalated the pain. I’m happy to know someone else had the snapping hip. Sorry you had to go through the pain but thank you. Def going to demand and MRI or something because I don’t get why it’s so painful. It shouldn’t be tight because I do hardcore yoga and exercise. I don’t know. We shall see.

I have so much pain through out my body, I NEED HELP!?

Question by Ashleigh .: I have so much pain through out my body, I NEED HELP!?
Hi guys,
For the last 6 months or so EVERY joint in my body hurts so bad everyday.
Some days its so bad i cant even get out of bed, and i have woken up crying. Recently my muscles have started hurting too (for no reason). My last primary care doctor did a test to check for Lyme disease and inflammation in my joints. Both came back negative.
I just moved a month ago and have a new doctor, They did the same test and negative again.
I really need advice, I cant take this pain anymore its so severe.

Should i just go ahead and see a Rheumatoid doctor?

My primary doctor didn’t even check my joints or look at them. Just the blood test. I asked to be put on something for pain as i have tired all otc anti-flammatory medicine. They prescribed ULTRAM. Today was the first time taking them (took one pill) and i haven’t have any pain relief after 3 hours.

I just don’t know what else to do, I really need help and advice.

Thanks
My vitamin D was low when i was first check by the first doctor, since then my new doctor just check it and said it was fine.

And I’ve lost weight (ten pounds in a month) in hopes that would help some, since the doctor said it would. I actually feel worse now though. But also If every joint in my body hurts, could it really be from my weight? (I’m not hugely over weight, but i am a bit) Id understand my ankles, knees and hips. But not my fingers, wrists, elbows, etc. hurting from that.

If you can see a rheumatologist, you should. My mom had problems with her foot that were so bad she had to wear a brace, but her GP never figured out what it was despite seeing him for two years about it.
The GP kept suggesting things like plantar fasciatis and fibromyalgia, neither of which seemed to fit her symptoms very well.

The rheumatologist she was finally referred to figured it out in one visit: she was severely vitamin D deficient. All it took to cure the problem was one 50,000 UI vitamin D treatment and taking a daily supplement has kept the pain away. That’s probably not your issue, but I hope the doctor you see is as clever.

I am on my way to a doctor today but if he has nothing for me maybe someone here will have a suggestion.

Firstly you should not be on a disciplinary warning at work if you have doctors notes. That breaks employment law and I would suggest you call the CAB for advice.
The reason you are in so much pain is not the discs as they should have reset now.
What has happened is somewhere there has trapped your sciatic nerve.
This happened to me 20 years back. Stop being nice to your GP if he is not helping. Demand to see a specialist, it’s your right. In the end I lost the feeling of all the toes between the big and little ones on my right foot and had a cold patch on the back of my lower leg. As soon as I reported that I was whisked into hospital and put on traction for 3 weeks.
That did the trick and they didn’t need to operate and although I am careful I have had no pain since.
If you feel you are being ignored, complain, I’m sorry to say, that they don’t ignore.

Lets see if we can help. First where and how did hurt your back. The reason I ask is that if you did this at work you may be eligible for workmans comp to cover all of the medical expenses. Also if it is workmans comp related they would have a hard time letting you go. There are time limitations so look into this soon. If it was at work you might get a lawyer to help you. There are plenty out there where the first visit is free and if they think you can win will do the case free and take 1/3 of any settlement. Caution though. If this is work related you don’t want to settle, the workmans comp is for life.

Next as far as your back. You really need to see a pain management specialist. You need some test to find out exactly where the pain is coming from. The disc may be pressing on a nerve. You didn’t say what medicine you were on. Most family docs are not equipped or trained to provide long term pain care.

I hurt my back over ten years ago, a slip and fall at work. Workmans comp pays all of my back related expenses. It has paid for three major surgeries. I finally went on disability and was then also covered by social security even though I wasn’t even near 65.pp

Yes. Life expectancy is shorter among patients with rheumatoid arthritis than in the general population, and survival rates are comparable to those for Hodgkin’s disease, diabetes mellitus, and three-vessel coronary artery disease.
