What is wrong with the VA?

Question by mk3SoupRah: What is wrong with the VA?
Apparently my ankle is bad enough to be in a boot for the next 3 weeks.
But it, “isn’t necessary to prescribe anything for chronic pain.”, as the doctor would put it.
IT HURTS! They used to prescribe me hydrocodone 5mg and it was perfect. I was supposed to take one every 6 hours. I would maybe take one a day. Then my prescription ran out and I tried taking Tylenol and Advil instead. They do not work at all. I don’t understand if one of the reasons I am receiving disability is chronic pain, why can I not receive the pain meds I was previously taking?
What can I do?

See if they have a pain center and make an appointment. Pain centers really do understand pain and you may get the relief you need.

speaking from personal experience, some doctors simply wont listen to their patients. i have had migraines for the past 3 years and was just diagnosed by a different doctor 3 months ago. my first dr seemed to ignore everything i had to say about my headaches just saying “Hmm” and changing the subject. perhaps your dr may think you are just in it for the meds (since it is a narcotic). maybe try talking with your dr or asking for a second opinion
